World Series by Renault : French Sports Cars History and Development

It has been a long five years, from the time when the World Series by Renault were last time represented at the Le Mans circuit Bugatti in France. During this time, the spectators at Le Mans really had missed performances from the racing championship of Formula Renault 3.5 on their favorite race track. In 2015, Le Mans track stands were completely filled with visitors and admirers of the famous WSR 3.5 racing series. Especially, because to them was given the opportunity also to see the ultimate racing history of the famous french automobile company. In the Bugatti tracks paddock the organizers of the Renault World Series offered to see an exhibition of classic racing cars. Exhibited french sports cars were from different eras:  from motorsport retro vintage models to super modern sample of the electric race car from FIA Formula E.

World Series by Renault Le Mans

Renault Alpine A443

One of the best racing cars of Renault: Alpine A443 1978, but not a very successful result in the race. Sports car participated in the race 24 hours of Le Mans 1978. Long a leader on the track, the car went out of the race, giving the victory to other Renault Alpine A441.


Renault F1 RS10

The first Formula 1 car with a turbocharged engine: Renault F1 RS 10. Racing team “Equipe Renault Elf” for the first time participated in the F1 series at the Monaco Grand Prix in 1979. A racing car at the beginning caused a only smile from the other participants in races. Everything changed after the Renault F1 RS10 victory at the Grand Prix France 1979. Already next year, main applicants for victory in the Formula One 1980: Ferrari, McLaren (TAG-Porsche) and Williams (Honda) passed to engines with turbocharging.


Renault Elf Maxi 5 Turbo

In 1987, Eric Comas on the Renault R5 Turbo won the European Superproduction Championship. E.Comas has gained 6 wins from 12 races. Renault R5 Turbo “Production Philips” left behind such well-known rivals like Audi, Porsche, Peugeot, and BMW.


Renault F1 R26

A racing car Renault F1 R26 participated in a season of Formula 1 2006. Under the direction of Fernando Alonso and Giancarlo Fisichella, this race car has brought victory for Mild “Seven Renault F1 Team” in the Constructors Cup. Team riders won 8 Grand Prix of 18. Fernando Alonso on the Renault F1 R26 wins the world championship in Formula One  2006, beating finally Michael Schumacher by 13 points.


Formula Renault 3.5

Race car Formula Renault 3.5 2015 from the final season of the championship organized under the patronage of Renault Sport. Since 2016, Formula V8 3.5 is conducted under the direction of RPM Racing.

 


Spark Renault SRT 01E

Renault Formula E electric car is the result of 10-month collaboration between Spark Racing Technology, McLaren Electronic Systems, Williams Advanced Engineering, Dallara, and Renault. Renault electric race car is able to accelerate 0-100 km / h in three seconds and reach speeds of 225 kilometers per hour(FIA limited).

Private collectors of vintage Renault car also did not miss presented opportunity during  World Series by Renault 2015 in Le Mans. At the entrance to the paddock of Le Mans Bugatti circuit have been exposed to show the classic models of Renault sports cars.

Unfortunately holding World Series by Renault 2016 is not provided by schedule Le Mans circuit Bugatti.
